Staffing is nothing but recruiting a human resource for the specific job. The staffing is also reliant on the nature and period of the job. Depending on these parameters, the staffing can be divided into three types. Let us briefly see and analyze them.
Contract
Contract staffing means the resource will work in the firm for a stipulated time, which is usually mentioned in the agreement. The contractual period can be increased by the mutual consent of the recruiter as well as the resource. Contractual works are obviously high paying with respect to the permanent ones. However, the job is ideal for those looking for stability or security. Most of the times, the contractual jobs are taken by consultancies that are expert in the domain of the respective job. This can also be understood as the symbiotic approach of businesses. A retail store needing someone to manage its IT applications for a fixed time period can be cited as a good example.
Contract-to-hire
Contract-to-hire is generally seen in the processes when, after some period, the firm sees that the employee is worthy to be inducted permanently (generally these are mentioned in the contract). Sometimes, the firm realizes that the process asks for a permanent resource. In these cases, the employee gets the extension of his job on a permanent basis and he becomes entitled to all the perks and facilities provided by the firm.
Direct Hire
This is the most popular hiring service and it requires a proper human resource management team to execute the direct hiring. Many times, the firms tend to outsource the hiring process to the independent HR firms. Direct hiring is usually done for the permanent basis, unless specified.
